Japanese musical instrument retailer Shimamura will open a new indoor theme park for children called "OTOVIVA" in the summer of 2026. The park will be located on the second floor of "LaLaport Koshien" in Hyogo Prefecture.
The park is designed for preschoolers and elementary school children. It aims to lower the psychological barrier that families sometimes feel when entering a traditional music store or classroom. "We want children to encounter music in a more casual and free way," a company representative said.
OTOVIVA will feature attractions that combine sound, musical instruments, and digital technology. Children can play instruments, move their bodies to create sound, and enjoy unique content. The park will also host concerts using various instruments, storytelling sessions with picture books, and workshops to make handmade instruments.
This project is part of Shimamura's long-term strategy called "Beyond the Comprehensive Music Store." The company's management philosophy is to "provide the joy of music and create as many people who enjoy music as possible." They noticed children happily playing with instruments in their stores and wanted to create a dedicated space for that spontaneous enjoyment.
